Bowling Green - Warren County HFH is a locally run affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need, to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual, civic, religious, and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
The local HFH affiliate, chartered in 1989, has received the support of the community through the gifts of funds and volunteer labor from churches, civic groups, businesses and individuals. We hope that a tour of this web site will inspire you to become involved with HFH or to continue to be involved if you have been in the past. Habitat for Humanity’s work is accomplished at the community level by affiliates — independent, locally run, nonprofit organizations. Each affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area — fund raising, building site selection, partner family selection and support, house construction, and mortgage servicing.
The local board has set a goal of building four houses in 2008. We need your help -- check the website to find out how you can help.
